Effective health communication is as important to health care as clinical skill. To improve individual health and build healthy communities, providers need to recognize and address the unique cultures, languages and health literacy of diverse consumers and communities. Our cultural competency program is geared toward:

  • Improving health care access and utilization
  • Enhancing the quality of services within culturally diverse and underserved communities
  • Promoting cultural and linguistic competence as essential approaches in the elimination of health disparities

Additional provider-focused cultural competency resources can be found on the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HRSA) website.

Physician Advisory Committee Overview

Medical Leadership within the Physician Advisory Committee provides clinical oversight and reviews decisions that involve medical necessity, quality, and utilization. The Physician Advisory Committee also focuses on delivery of healthcare services, provider specific concerns, coordinating the formulation of a comprehensive treatment plan, facilitating that plan and advocating the member’s individualized needs within the treatment plan.
